ASSIGNMENT 3: Exposure & Lighting
I’ve lit many scenes in 3D and have done lighting with a camera before. I didn’t know how well the lights I was using would work. I think it was ok. I focused on getting 2 point lighting first and then moved on to 3 point lighting. I just wanted to make it simple where the lighting was coming from. These are my settings for both shots.

Shawshank Redemption
Morgan Freeman is in this scene in the movie The Shawshank Redemption. This shot its clear the focus is the actor’s face and his dialog. After seeing the parole board many times, they ask him have you been rehabilitated. There is a rim light and one key light. This key is coming from the outside light and the shades on the windows act as bars to this character.
Fight Club
In fight club Brad Pitt’s character is giving a speech and they are using the three point lighting set up. This shot is well lit to give the character clear dialog about the rules of fight club. The message of the dialog and the lighting are clear to the viewer.
Star Wars Return of the Jedi
In Star Wars the Emperor comes to mind in when I think of lighting. This is a 2 point lighting set up and a dramatic look to this character. The viewer is seeing the Emperor as a monster and as a dark character. It is clear that the focus is the Emperor and the dark mood on the death star.
